Hi I am still looking for information on the Mason family from Country Harbour and Isaacs Harbour especially Charles Francis born 1884, Lillian Queen born 1895 and my grandad William Francis [Marple ] born 1893 for some reason while in England grandad started to use Francis as his middle name instead of Marple and when he got a delayed birth certificate registered he used Francis not Marple most confusing. My ggrandmother was Rachael Jane Beiswanger, born and raised in Country Harbor. (Do not know her parents names) Married Joseph Sweet from Hants County, Nova Scotia, had family. Joseph died, she married widower James Mason of Country Harbor. They were members of RLDS church. I am most interested in info on the Beiswanger line, but the Mason connection may help also. They stayed very connected to the church and after Rachael was widowed again, she went to MO, USA where the headquarters of that church were located and where she died and was buried. Do you have any info on this particular Mason or on Rachael? Thanks for any help. ---Phyllis Evans

NS Historical Vital Stats has the record of Jane Sweet married to James Mason. Gives her father's name as George Registration Year: 1884 - Book: 1823 - Page: 172 - Number: 67

I'm interested in a Helen Mason who had an aunt named Myra Colwell. I'm not sure about the spelling of the aunt's name. Helen was born in Guysborough County early 1900's.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. My email is mcdonaldfamilytree@yahoo.ca

Thank you very much. I know very little about the Helen Mason which I am trying to find. I know she was born in Guysborough County in the early 1900's and the information which you provided fits. If you can provide more info about the aunt, Myra Colwell, it will be overwhelming evidence of a fit.

Hi there, I just came across this thread and thought I would add in a little information that I have about the Country Harbour Masons.
My grandparents (on my mothers side) were Gertrude (nee Eaton) and Malcolm Ross Mason (married 1926). Malcolm was born June 15, 1896 and died in 1956. Malcolm was a resident of Country Harbour for 56 years, before that he was a resident of Watervale, Kings Co. I not 100% sure of the circumstances but I believe that Malcolm was adopted by my great-grandparents which makes things a bit difficult. I don't really know much about him as he passed away when my mom was just a little girl, so information is pretty sparse.
I've been working on the other side of my family tree so I don't really have much information about the Masons but thought I'd pass along what I could. If this little bit of information opens up anything for you I'd be happy to ask my mom for some more information and pass it your way, just let me know what you would like to know.
Have a good one!

Just a couple of corrections to my previous post. Malcolm wasn't from "Watervale", but "Waterville" in Kings County. Also, Gertrudes maiden name wasn't Eaton (that was Malcolm's mothers maiden name), it was actually (wait for it...) Mason! I know that sounds terrible since they both had the same surname before marriage, but they were not related in anyway whatsoever as it's a pretty common surname and they were from different ends of the province, still, something that I'm sure was a bit awkward for them . Anyway, I emailed your post to my mom and she told me about the mistakes I had made and asked me to mention "Nelly Mason" to you. She seems to think she may have been closely related to "Helen Mason" in some way. Does that name ring a bell? Sorry for the wrong info in my previous post, hope this helps!

Hi Rob I do have some mention of Nellie Mason but not sure which one she is yet. the main thing i am trying to find out is when my great grandparents died i think great grandad could have died about 1904 as that fits in with some info i have his name was William Francis Mason and he lived in Country Harbour. My great grandmother probably died in Pictou Couty as we know she moved there sometime during world war one her name was Martha Arabell Cook. I would love to know when they died as it is so hard to get info from England where i live.
